"After
20 years of creating and operating successful businesses
like New Mexico Sports & Wellness, I have taken on a
new and exciting endeavor. What I loved most about developing
businesses was creating strong teams of skilled individuals.
Through experiential learning at Manzano Mountain, we will
help you sharpen and refine your team's skills by creating
an environment where team members grow to admire and respect
each other."

Scott
Garrett
Scott Garrett and his family
are the owners of Manzano Mountain Retreat. Scott is most known
in the Albuquerque business area for his and his brother's development
of the New Mexico Sports and Wellness chain of recreational clubs.
The clubs served over 25,000 members through 5 locations. In 1999
the Garretts sold the chain to Wellbridge, a national operator
of sports and health clubs. Scott and his brother still own a
recreational club in Ventura, California, along with the historic
Pierpont Inn.
Scott is active in other local businesses: he has sold over 150
homes in the area, owns and manages shopping centers, and dabbles
in a few other enterprises. The Garretts understand hospitality
and run the Manzano Mountain Retreat with their customer's needs
first.
Scott
and his wife Pam have three boys ages 13-19 years. Scott is active
in the Albuquerque Rotary Club and sits on the Parents Board of
the Albuquerque Academy. Scott's contributions to his community
have been recognized in local media, including a spot on the cover
of the New Mexico Business Journal. Visitors to the Manzano Mountain
Retreat can easily see Scott's love of the outdoors and his aptitude
for creating successful customer-focused organizations.
Randy & Kim Simmons
Randy Simmons has been with Manzano
Mountain Retreat since opening in 1991. Randy is the Facilities
Director and is also a certified ropes facilitator. Randy's roles
and
responsibilities at the Retreat are multifaceted and include Facility
Director, Co-Director of the Retreat, and Maintenance Director.
Additionally, he has quite a green thumb when it comes to apple
growing. Randy is CPR trained and certified. He is a native of
Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Kim
Simmons is the Director at Manzano Mountain Retreat. She is also
a trained facilitator and CPR trained and certified. Kim has been
at
MMR since 1997. She has a tremendous responsibility as director.
When she's not managing the day-to-day activities at the retreat,
you might find her around the ropes course encouraging and assisting
individuals, greeting delivery trucks, helping her kitchen staff,
answering phones, giving tours of the facility, coordinating events,
doing inventory of food supplies, getting signatures, greeting
incoming groups and seeing off satisfied customers. WHEW!
Kim
and Randy actually met when she was a guest at MMR during a company
picnic in August of 1996. She married Randy in February of 1997
and moved to MMR to become a "Mountain Woman". She had
been a legal secretary in L.A.; her idea of "roughing it"
was having to stay in a hotel without room service! Despite everyone's
predictions, she managed to adjust. Now folks think she's a native
New Mexican.
Call Kim at the retreat office at (505) 384-4467 to book your stay.
Stephanie
Michnovicz
Stephanie's
involvement with the retreat dates back to its early days, when
the Garretts
first purchased the facility. At the time she was the corporate
sales director with the New Mexico Sports & Wellness, owned
by the Garretts and oversaw the sales and operation of MMR.
Having
been away from the retreat for 3 years, Stephanie has been excited
to see the growth of the facilities and how it has evolved into
a year round retreat center. In her spare time Stephanie enjoys reading,
tennis, swimming and many other outdoor activities.
